Where We Started

When I had to move during the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic, I was very concerned with the cleanliness of our new home. I was a single mom, with a limited budget, caught in the craze of sanitizing our groceries before putting them away, and confronting an unknown world.

I was also home with a new born baby, and our apartment presented with some serious baby proofing issues, and so my landlord decided to move us to a new unit.

I requested that my landlord have the place professionally cleaned, so I could worry less about what my children were potentially being exposed too.; they obliged.  This "professional clean" was far below my standards, and I needed to spend the next few days cleaning it myself. All the while trying to manage a newborn baby, two tweens now homeschooling, and going back and forth to the new place, to clean it.

Moving into a new place should be a moment of joy and new beginnings, not days and days of backbreaking scrubbing, just for the feeling of basic physical safety for our families, especially protected from exposure to the unknown pandemic.  Even though the pandemic has improved and we are no longer sanitizing our groceries, our need for clean living spaces has not.

I have always believed that if you are going to do something, then you need to do it right. And not just a nice shiny surface, that gives the illusion of clean. But a meaningful and complete clean of everything, especially those things hiding beneath the surface.

Things that are Actually Clean!!

Below, I have some photos of my "new clean" living space.

The Before Photos are the photos of my place after being "cleaned" by the "professional cleaning service".

The After Photos are my place after being cleaned by me.

The level of detail below is what I believe should be considered "professional" cleaning. And is the standard that we will always apply to our jobs.

My Apartment Before/After

I thought that the colour of carpet should not change if it suppose to be already clean. I found out that this carpet is blue, not brown.

We are a full service cleaning service, so no need to hire a separate carpet cleaning service.

This is doorway that leads out my deck, was not cleaned by the "professional cleaning company" because it was not "inside" the apartment.

Doorways are an important part of living spaces. What would homes be without doors?

I thought that the bath tub had been cleaned properly, until I used the shower the first time, and this black substance started coming from the features =(

This is the difference between appearing clean and being ACTUALLY CLEAN!!

.........

I do not want to even talk about this one.....
